Making a Difference
Kevin was sworn into office on December 3rd 2018, and since taking office has been working hard to better serve the residents of the 15th District.
Kevin has:
- Created a Cook County Department on Mental Health
- Created a Commission on addressing Equity, Bias, and Cultural Competency
- Led to the hiring of the County’s first County Equity Director, as well as the beginning stages of improved trainings for all county staff.
- Chief Co-Sponsor of the VOTE Ordinance, which expanded the languages offered on the suburban county ballot from four languages to twelve.
- Led to the addition of language access for Gujarati, Russian, Polish, Korean, Tagalog, Urdu, Arabic, and Ukrainian.
- Makes Cook County the second most language-inclusive County in the nation.
- Chief Co-Sponsor of the Residential Tenant and Landlord Ordinance. The RTLO established rules for both tenants and landlords. Expands the rights of 245,000 renters in Cook County against things such as illegal lockouts and preposterous move-in fees.
- Increased resources to Cook County’s Business and Economic Development Department
- Helped create a One-Stop Shop for businesses to access available services and resources
- Chief Sponsor of the Technology Reporting Ordinance
- Cybersecurity is critical to the functioning of any government entity, and this policy not only makes Cook County more transparent, but also allows the County Board the ability to address any vulnerabilities.
- Make technology reports more formalized to offer greater accountability and oversight to the Commissioners.
- Chief Sponsor of the Gender Inclusive Documents and Forms Ordinance
- In furthering the County’s vision of equity for all, this ordinance affirms the identities of transgender, non-binary, and two-spirit Cook County residents on forms and documents.
- Supported the Assessor in lobbying the State Legislature to make the Senior Citizen Exemption renewable
- Removed Outdated Bathroom Codes
- Removed blatantly transphobic language from Cook County codes.
- Sponsored the Just Housing Initiative
- One of the biggest issues facing former felons upon completion of serving their debt to society is the ability to find stable housing. This policy makes it possible for rehabilitated individuals to have a fair shot in acquiring housing and becoming productive members of society.
- Sponsored Juneteenth as a County holiday
- Formally establishes Juneteenth as a paid County holiday, recognizing the official end of legal slavery in the United States.
- Sponsored a Resolution to make Cook County Carbon Neutral by 2030
- Passed a resolution setting the course for making all County buildings, facilities, and vehicles carbon neutral by 2030.
- Supported Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault assistance through the Courts
- For all cases involving domestic violence or sexual assault, individuals with cases before Cook County courts must be offered assistance for what programs are available, including mental health.

- Vaccine rollout through CCDPH
- $10,000+ grants for hardest hit industries
- Balanced budget every year
- No new taxes
- Partnered with our localities to bring funds to infrastructure improvements
- Funding to enhance Arlington Heights Road and add turning lanes
- Raised Pride flag on Daley Plaza for the entire month of June
- Virtual town halls done to keep constituents informed during COVID
- Earmarked $100 million over the next 2 years for equity projects
- Appointed to Commissioner on Small Business & Supplier Diversity
- Appointed Small Business Working Group
