Fiscal Watchdog Susana Mendoza Endorses Kevin B. Morrison

Chicago, Illinois -- Today Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza announced her support for Democratic candidate Kevin B. Morrison, who is running against the Illinois Republican Party Chair, 15th District Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider.

“Kevin has demonstrated to be an independent and thoughtful leader who cares deeply about our state and ensuring that Cook County is on the road to fiscal wellness,” said Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza. “I”m proud to support his candidacy and excited that the constituents in the 15th district will have a full-time commissioner who is eager to serve them.”

Kevin B. Morrison would make history as the youngest and first openly LGBTQ person to serve on the Cook County Board. The Schneider-Trump-Rauner machine has consistently voted against the interests of women, families, and children to side with special interests and the wealthy one percent. As an absentee commissioner, Schneider has failed the constituents of the 15th district by missing over a quarter of his scheduled meetings and only sponsoring four ordinances while every other commissioner serving a full term has sponsored at least twice as many. When the opportunity to protect families and women came up, Schneider cast a “no” vote against protecting our families’ public safety and funding the criminal justice system.

“Comptroller Mendoza has been the leading voice opposing Rauner’s disastrous policies that have hurt our state. Her strength, independence, and fighting spirit are an inspiration, and I am grateful to count on her support,” said Kevin B. Morrison.

Comptroller Mendoza is the latest elected official to throw her support behind Kevin B Morrison. She will also be hosting a women’s fundraiser for Kevin on Tuesday, October 2nd at La Tasca Tapas, 25 West Davis, Arlington Heights at 6:30 pm.
