LIUNA Joins List of Growing Endorsements
02/28/2018The Chicago Laborers’ District Council (LIUNA) is the latest labor union to support Kevin B. Morrison’s candidacy to unseat Illinois’ Republican party chair 15th District Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider, citing Kevin will be a strong advocate and fighter in a time when labor unions are under tremendous attacks from Republicans.
The Chicago Laborers’ District Council (LIUNA) represents a diverse group of over 20,000 hard working men and women in the construction, municipal, and industrial sectors. United through collective bargaining agreements that ensure family-supporting pay, good benefits, safety on the job, and the opportunity for advancement, LIUNA builds and maintain the country's infrastructure, keeps communities clean and safe, and government operating efficiently. The Chicago Laborers' District Council consists of 15 affiliated locals with jurisdictions covering Boone, Cook, DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties.
“In a time when Republicans continue their open assault against labor unions, we are excited to endorse Kevin B. Morrison. He will be a strong fighter and advocate in Cook County for our families. We are confident that Kevin will be a steadfast champion and strong voice advocating for our collective bargaining rights,” said James Connolly, Business Manager.
Kevin B. Morrison is running against the current Chair of the Illinois Republican Party 15th District Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider. Schneider is a supporter of President Trump and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, who seek to destroy working families and the middle-class. Schneider’s policies seek to only protect the multi-millionaires in the district.
“I would like to thank LIUNA’s membership for entrusting me to be their voice and champion in Cook County. Now more than ever, unions need a strong ally, who will fight on their behalf to preserve collective bargaining rights, especially in this climate where Republicans are seeking to destroy labor unions and the middle-class,” said Kevin B. Morrison.
